Frost & Sullivan Awards Luna Technologies for Optical Test Product of the Year

Atlanta, GA, March 25, 2003 – Frost & Sullivan today presented Luna Technologies with the 2003 Optical Test Product of the Year Award at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference, held in Atlanta, Georgia. Luna Technologies is the creator of Optical Vector Analyzers (OVAs) for rapid, precise, and comprehensive optical component characterization.

Frost & Sullivan presented Luna Technologies with the Optical Test Product of the Year Award.

Shekar Gopolan, Vice President of Research & Consulting, Industrial Business Unit, Frost & Sullivan, presented the award to Ed Valigursky, Luna Technologies' Vice President of Sales. Gopolan delivered a speech at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference Product Showcase, outlining Luna's successful development strategies and ability to meet customer-stated needs and requirements.

Luna Technologies received the award for its innovative OVA, the industry's first, completely integrated solution for all-parameter characterization of fiber-optic components.

"It is the first tester that captures the Jones Matrix with one scan to accurately measure and construct device characteristics such as insertion loss (IL), group delay (GD), polarization mode dispersion (PMD/DGD), polarization dependent loss (PDL), polarization error, chromatic dispersion (CD) and time domain information," explains Sailaja Tennati, Industry Analyst for Frost & Sullivan's Test & Measurement Group.

"This will be an explosive year for Luna Technologies as we focus on redefining the economics of optical test," says Valigursky. “Being acknowledged as Optical Test Product of the Year is just phenomenal. And, Luna Technologies has many other great things planned for the coming year."

In addition to using a unique and unprecedented method of characterizing optical components, the OVA offers valuable benefits to users. The OVA reduces testing time and therefore time-to-market. It also reduces cost of testing, is easily upgraded and increases productivity.

Luna Technologies will also be honored at Frost & Sullivan's 2003 Excellence in Industrial Technology Awards Banquet, April 9, in San Diego, Calif.
